Dear Parents,

On behalf of the staff at Chazon Tekna School, I am happy to welcome you to the school year! We are incredibly excited to begin our year here at Chazon. This promises to be a year filled with golden opportunities for all of our students as we strive to find ways that we can be even better than we have before.

We encourage you to contact us if/when the need arises. Whatsapp is preferred, so that we have a record of communication with parents. Please stay in the know about your child’s studies, assignments, assessments, and school activities, as well as other events and happenings.

We ask that you guide and support your child’s learning by ensuring that he/she:
1) Attends school daily and arrives on time, ready for the day’s learning experience
2) Completes all homework assignments given by teachers
3) Reads daily to develop a love for reading and to improve literacy skills
4) Shares school experiences with you so that you are aware of his/her school life

PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT IN CHILDREN’S SCHOOL DAY

I would like to take this opportunity to tell you about the importance of parent involvement in the school life of your child.

Many parents drop their kids off in the morning while the teachers take over, and then pick them up at the end of the day without giving their learning much more thought.

To get the true benefits from a childhood education, however, parents need to consider how they can support what their children are learning throughout the day.

Parental involvement helps extend teaching outside the classroom, creates a more positive experience for children and helps children perform better when they are in school. Higher grades and better behaviour are just a few of the benefits of parent involvement.

It is very important that you actively engage with your child by asking them about their school work, what they did in class today and if they had a good time during break. These types of questions keeps you up to date with what your child is learning at school. It also gives you the opportunity to identify when your child needs help with something.

When a parent shows interest in their child’s school activities, the child feels special and this helps them to become more positive toward school work. Children are eager to impress their parents and by showing interest in what they have done during the day, you are improving their confidence. Children of involved parents are more likely to feel that they’re accepted, included, and respected and at school.

Parental and family involvement in childhood education will help improve learning outcomes for children by ensuring that they have all the support they need to succeed.

Please take the time when you get home to have a conversation with your child about their day at school.

Even 15 minutes spent talking to your child can have a huge impact on their willingness to learn at school.

Our Vision

To teach our pupils the skills needed to survive in a rapid, continual changing environment, preparing the individual for life ahead, with a solid Christian foundation.

Syllabus & Curriculum

Pupils learn according to the acclaimed A.C.E (Accelerated Christian Education) system, designed by the American School of Tomorrow.

The curriculum is developed by skilled researchers, writers, artists and educators and has been South Africanised for local pupils. Pupils progress from one pace (or workbook) to the next after a mark of 80% or above has been obtained in each pace test

Our History

Chazon Tekna School opened in January 2000 in response to a need in Machadodorp for quality education. We have maintained Silver Quality Status for over a decade and continue to provide a service of Academic Excellence and Christian commitment.

What makes us different?

Individualization. A pupils progress is determined not by a standardized curriculum but by the child. In this way pupils master
subject matter before proceeding. Above average pupils, likewise are not restricted.
• Academic Excellence. Research done by the School of Tomorrow shows that pupils score significantly higher than those in mainstream schools on standardized achievement tests.
• Character-building. The system’s holistic nature ensures that pupils emerge well prepared for the challenges and opportunities
that lie ahead.
• Traditional Values. The curriculum integrates life-shaping values and biblical principles
